Topsail - Birchen Edge

A cold start in the morning. It was trying to snow but then brightened up in to a beautiful day.

The painful reach for a short second! The GoPro captured Rich's ascent - the lighting wasn't great unfortunately.

Thanks for the video Fran. Why is it running at comedy speed though? Is that for reasons of ease of uploading?

2013 in the UK. What would be an achievable goal that would encourage us to explore more of the United Kingdom? Rather than a tick list of ascending difficulty we decided to look to the past for inspiration. The idea of completing the routes found at 55 locations described in Classic Rock seemed to fit the bill. First published in 1979, Classic Rock compiled by Ken Wilson, shares the history of some of Britain's greatest low grade routes.

As far apart as Demo Route at Sennen (Land's End) to the Cuillin Ridge on the Isle of Skye (North of the Great Glen) we became increasingly excited about visiting places we hadn't thought to visit for years. Even if 2013 sheds more water than 2012 we are looking forward to completing the list as well as other classic routes across the country.
