This was by far the sunniest day yet in 2013. Warm with blue skies, so we headed down to Chair Ladder to look at Terrier Tooth. The rock was dry and it would have been perfect if there had been less swell. It didn't look too bad from above, the occasional wave spraying the belay ledge with water. We decided to lower down for a closer look. This revealed that the spray was a little heavier than it appeared. Dousing the ledge and the first 3 metres of the route. We decided to wait and watch for a little longer, only to witness the most impressive rogue set approach and slam into the wall above the belay ledge. We had definitely made the right decision.
This was at around mid-tide on the outgoing tide. at near neaps as well! So it should have been ok. There was a big long period winter atlantic swell running though ... anyway we sacked our climbing plans after that big set came through, and went surfing instead. We found solid overhead waves and a light offshore that afternoon at Polzeath - nice :)
